전시 제목이자 신작 영상의 제목인 <버들 북 꾀꼬리>는 마치 실을 짜듯 버드나무 사이를 날아다니는 꾀꼬리의 움직임과 소리를 풍경의 직조로 읽어내던 선인들의 비유를 참조합니다. 이를 통해 작가는 시각·촉각·청각 등의 다양한 감각과 시·공간적 차원의 경험을 아우르는 작업의 특징을 상징적으로 드러냅니다. 전시는 마치 한 폭의 풍경화가 3차원으로 펼쳐져 공감각적으로 공명하는 듯한 느낌을 줍니다. 그 속에는 사계를 담은 산, 바닥과 벽으로 펼쳐지는 낮과 밤, 공중에 매달린 커다란 귀, 작지만 풍성한 초원과 제 자리를 맴도는 둥근 유랑, 그리고 각자의 자리를 만들고 전시의 보이지 않는 틀이 되는 다양한 사각이 함께 합니다. 이들의 얼개는 틀과 여백, 따뜻함과 차가움, 부드러움과 딱딱함, 정지와 움직임 사이의 풍성한 울림을 담아냅니다.
강서경은 사회 속 개인에게 허락된 자리, 나와 함께 사는 다른 이들의 존재, 그들의 움직임이 인지되고 더불어 관계 맺는 “진정한 풍경(眞景)”을 고민합니다. 이 풍경 속에 유기적으로 헤쳐 모인 개별 작품들은 각기 다른 모양새와 존재방식을 지녔지만 서로 연결되고 상호작용하며 연대의 서사를 펼칩니다. 강서경은 이를 통해 나, 너, 우리가 불균형과 갈등을 끊임없이 조율하며 온전한 서로를 이뤄가는 장(場)을 제시하고자 합니다.
